1. Master Hasashi, having received evidence from Sub-Zero of Kuan Chi's involvement in the war between their clans (Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei), comes to the Refugee Camp and demands the extradition of the sorcerer from Sony Blade. She refuses, and Hasashi has to drag the necromancer out by force while his clan disarms the military at the base. Di'vora arrives at Kuan Chi with the amulet, and at the last moment, before his death, the sorcerer manages to use a spell to free Shinnok from the amulet, after which he allows the Scorpion to kill himself. Shinnok mutilates the Earthlings and takes Johnny Cage with him to Jinsei.

2. Raiden, who has arrived at the temple to recover, meets mentor Bo Rai Cho. After defeating the thunderer, the fallen god poisons Jinsei. A team of young operatives escapes from captivity to Earth, but they are overtaken by the army of Kotal Khan. The Emperor renounces the "Reiko Pact" and invades Earth, but seeing Shinnok's corruption in heaven, decides to kill the fugitives in order to soften Shinnok's anger and prepare his kingdom for the attack of Hell. They are hindered by the Lin Kuei clan and the great master Sub-Zero. Cassie and the team infiltrate the temple. While Jackie, Takeda, and Kun Jin battle the former Defenders of Earth, Cassie defeats the Demonic Shinnok. Raiden cleanses Jinsei by taking the poison into himself.

3. Corrupted by the demonic energy of the fallen God, Raiden changes his priorities. Now he will not only protect the Earth — he intends to destroy anyone who poses a threat to the Earthly Kingdom, as reported by Liu Kang and Kitana, who have become the new rulers of the Underworld. He throws them Shinnok's severed but still alive head, after which he leaves the Underworld.
